Faith Kipyegon Nominated for Esteemed Laureus Awards 2024

Six nominees have been selected in each of the traditional seven Award categories by the members of the Laureus Global Media Panel. In the men’s category, the nominees are Lionel Messi, Novak Djokovic, Max Verstappen, Erling Haaland, Armand Duplantis, and Noah Lyles. Faith Kipyegon, a double Olympic champion, is nominated for the Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year Award 2024. She had a remarkable 2023 season, breaking multiple records and achieving significant milestones in her career.

During the 2023 season, Faith Kipyegon set three different records on the track within just two months. She became the first woman in history to achieve the 1500-5000-meter double at a World Championship event in Budapest. She also broke the world record for the 5000-meter event, clocking 14:05.20 in Paris, and later smashed the previous mile mark by five seconds in Monaco, clocking 4:07.64. Faith Kipyegon faces tough competition for the award alongside other accomplished athletes, including Shericka Jackson, Sha’Carri Richardson, Iga Swiatek, Aitana Bonmati, and Mikaela Shiffrin.

Poland’s Swiatek won her third French Open title in 2023, while Bonmati achieved success in football, winning the World Cup and the Golden Ball.
