Gor Mahia captain Philemon Otieno out of Mashemeji Derby in Kenya, says SportPesa Scores & News.

Philemon Otieno, Emery Bayisenge, and Patrick Kaddu will be sidelined for Gor Mahia’s upcoming match against Ingwe. Philemon Otieno is nursing an injury and will not be fit for selection in the much-awaited Mashemeji Derby on Sunday, April 21. Emery Bayisenge is also recovering from an injury and may not be ready for the match, while Patrick Kaddu, who has been out with a hamstring injury, is making steady progress and is expected to be around 80 percent fit for the game. However, there is some good news for Gor Mahia as Rooney Onyango, who was injured in a previous match, is expected to be fit for selection after resuming training.

Despite the injury concerns, Gor Mahia’s coach, Johnathan McKinstry, emphasized that the team is ready to take on AFC Leopards and assert their dominance in the derby. McKinstry encouraged fans to come out and support the game, calling it a showcase for Kenyan football. On the other side, AFC Leopards’ head coach, Tomas Trucha, promised a thrilling encounter in the derby and highlighted the importance of being prepared for a tough match. He emphasized that there is no clear favorite and their preparations focus on tactical, mental, and physical aspects.

In the previous Mashemeji Derby, Gor Mahia emerged victorious with a 2-0 win. Currently, Gor Mahia is in control of the title-defending quest with 54 points, while AFC Leopards sit in 8th place with 38 points. Regular tickets for the match will be sold at Ksh300, while VIP tickets will be available for Ksh1,000.
