Nigeria to face Ivory Coast in AFCON final


Ivory Coast players are celebrating as they have reached the AFCON 2023 finals. Nigeria’s Substitute forward Kelechi Iheanacho and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali played key roles in their victory against South Africa, leading Nigeria to the finals.

Nigeria emerged victorious after a 1-1 draw against South Africa, clinching a 4-2 win on penalties. Their coach, Jose Peseiro, praised the team’s resilience and mindset, highlighting their strength as a unit.

Iheanacho, who plays for English second-tier club Leicester City, was brought into action during the match against South Africa and made a crucial spot-kick. Nwabali, on the other hand, saved penalty kicks from South African players, contributing significantly to Nigeria’s victory.

In the other semi-final match, Ivory Coast secured a 1-0 win against the Democratic Republic of Congo, with Sebastien Haller scoring the winning goal in the 65th minute. This victory marked a remarkable comeback for the Ivorian team in the tournament, following a humiliating loss to Equatorial Guinea in the group stage.

The stage is set for an exciting final between Nigeria and Ivory Coast, promising to be a thrilling conclusion to the AFCON 2023 tournament.
