Kennedy Owino: Transforming from a Forgettable Gor Mahia Stint to a Heroic Switch to AFC Leopards

Kennedy Owino’s career in Kenyan football has seen its share of highs and lows. He began his journey at Gor Mahia, joining the team with high hopes of success and silverware. However, his time at Gor Mahia was fraught with frustration due to a lack of playing time. This led him to make the difficult decision to leave the club after six months without making an appearance for the senior team.

Subsequently, Owino joined Posta Rangers, where he found the opportunity to grow and excel as a player. His consistent and impressive performances at the club earned him the captain’s armband and drew the attention of other Kenyan teams, including Tusker and Kenya Police. Eventually, AFC Leopards secured his transfer in January 2024, after a protracted battle with Posta Rangers over the transfer fee.

With a renewed sense of purpose and determination, Owino joined AFC Leopards, aiming to make a positive impact and help elevate the team’s performance. Despite the disappointments at Gor Mahia, he sees this move as a significant opportunity to continue his development and contribute to the success of his new team.

Owino’s decision to move to AFC Leopards reflects his resilience and commitment to overcoming obstacles in his career. He is determined to make the most of this new chapter and is focused on helping AFC Leopards achieve their goals and return to the top of Kenyan football.
