New Champions Crowned as Giants Fall in Term One Games – SportPesa Scores & News Kenya


The Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National Term One games concluded on Saturday, April 13, with new champions being crowned. The event, held at Machakos School, saw Butere Girls High School and Musingu Boys High School retaining their titles. Butere Girls High School secured a narrow 49-43 win against Nairobi champions, Buruburu Girls, in the girls’ basketball category.

Vincent Musime, the coach of Butere Girls, expressed gratitude for their win, while Dr. Aggrey School Principal Robert Aran noted the team’s dedication and support from the Coast region. In other categories, Moi Girls Kamusinga emerged as the handball champions, defeating Kwanthanze with a score of 24-13. In rugby 15s, Homeboys All Saints from the Eastern region claimed victory with a narrow 12-10 win over Butula from Western.

Benson Mwenda, the coach of All Saints, highlighted their determination to win the title after reaching the finals last year. Musingu Boys High School from Western successfully defended its title by defeating archrivals St Anthony Boys Kitale 3-2 in the hockey finals. Additionally, Tigoi was crowned hockey winners after a 2-1 victory over last year’s champions, Nyamira.

Following the finals, organizers praised the new winners for raising the standards of the game and commended the coaches for their professionalism throughout the term one games. The top three winners in each category are set to represent the country in the upcoming East African school games in August.
