The Carlos Katywa-coached side defeated their arch-rivals KCB Rugby Club 29-5 at the Kakamega Showground. The match saw Vincent Onyala score the only try for KCB in the dying moments of the first half, as Ntabeni Dukisa produced a man-of-the-match performance by bagging 14 points. Kabras took an early lead in the first half with a try from Walter Okoth, after a brilliant dummy from Brian Tanga.
Dukisa successfully converted, giving the Sugar men a 7-0 lead. KCB faced further challenges when their captain, Griffins Musila, was sent to the sin bin, resulting in them playing with 14 men. Kabras continued to demonstrate their dominance, scoring a third try through Dukisa, who also converted, leading 22-0 after only 24 minutes. However, KCB managed to secure their first try of the match through Vincent Onyala, reducing the deficit to 22-5 at halftime.
As the match progressed, KCB once again found themselves with 14 men on the field after Elvis Olukusi was sent to the sin bin. Kabras Sugar sealed the victory with a final try from Tanga, as Ntabeni Dukisa successfully converted, ending the match with a resounding 29-5 victory over KCB. This victory allowed Kabras to lift the coveted title and join the elite company of Nondies, KCB, Kenya Harlequin, and Impala as the only sides in the tournament’s history to win the Kenya Cup three times in a row. The Western region-based club completed the season without a single defeat for the second consecutive year, a rare feat in the top-flight league.
