Arsenal returns to the top of the Premier League as Man City cruises

Mikel Arteta saw his Arsenal side move to the top of the Premier League table after a 3-0 win at Brighton, with goals from Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, and Leandro Trossard. Arteta praised his team’s maturity and cleverness, despite missing some big chances.

The win marked Arsenal’s 10th victory in their past 11 league games, adding steel to their style after a challenging finish to the previous season. The Gunners have not won the league since 2004.

In another fixture, Manchester City secured a 4-2 win at Crystal Palace, with Kevin De Bruyne netting twice and Erling Haaland scoring his 19th league goal of the season. City’s victory placed them level on points with Liverpool, who fell behind after a 3-0 loss to Arsenal.

With a thrilling three-way title race unfolding, Liverpool faced a trip to Manchester United. Meanwhile, Everton ended their 13-match winless run in the Premier League with a fortunate 1-0 victory over Burnley.

Despite struggling to impose themselves, Everton benefited from a goal that deflected in off Dominic Calvert-Lewin in first-half stoppage time. In other matches, Aston Villa let a 2-0 lead slip to draw 3-3 with Brentford, while Newcastle edged past Fulham 1-0 and West Ham came from behind to beat Wolves 2-1.

Luton secured a 2-1 win against Bournemouth, putting them level on points with Nottingham Forest in the relegation zone.
