Kenyan runner Anderson Seroi emerged as the winner in the men’s category of the 2024 Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon. He finished the race with a time of 2:12.51, narrowly beating out Stephen Mokoka who crossed the finish line in 2:12.59. Seroi expressed his gratitude for the win and praised Hong Kong as a beautiful city. He also mentioned that he plans to improve his time in the next edition of the World Athletics gold label marathon.
In the women’s category, a Kenyan runner also secured a podium finish in what was considered one of the slowest races of the season so far. Amino, the women’s winner, opened a significant gap between herself and Chebet in the final stages of the race, crossing the finish line in 2:28.47. Gadise Mulu, another Kenyan, took third place with a time of 2:29.46.
While Kenya’s runners had success in the marathon, there were unfortunate incidents during the event. One runner tragically lost their life, and over 30 others were hospitalized.
