The weekend of the 15th of January 2024 in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) had everything to offer. Gor Mahia, Tusker FC, and Nairobi City Stars continued their excellent run, while Murang’a Seal and Nzoia Sugar had a tough weekend. Tusker FC, coached by Robert Matano, secured a 3-1 victory against Sofapaka, making it five wins in a row and moving them up to third place in the standings. Gor Mahia maintained their unbeaten streak and stayed in control of the title race. However, they were far from their best and will need to improve before their upcoming match against rivals Tusker FC.

AFC Leopards, coached by Tomas Trucha, secured a huge win with Jaffari Owiti scoring the only goal of the game. It was their fourth win of the season, helping them climb to 12th position in the league. Their next challenge will be a tough clash against Simba wa Nairobi.

Shabana, under the guidance of veteran tactician Posta Rangers, had a memorable match against Nzoia Sugar, winning 5-2. Debutant Mathew Momanyi and Justine Omwando each scored a brace, with Mark Okola also finding the back of the net. Nzoia Sugar’s goals came from Emmanuel Osoro and Salim Murunga. The defeat left Nzoia Sugar struggling at the bottom of the table, while Shabana climbed to 16th position.

The match week concluded with Gor Mahia maintaining their seven-point lead at the top of the table. They have 16 games left to play in the season.
