Shabana hires former Gor Mahia player Pamzo as new head coach

Shabana FC has announced the appointment of former Gor Mahia player and assistant coach, Sammy “Pamzo” Omollo, as their new head coach. This appointment comes after a three-month search for Sammy Okoth’s successor.

Pamzo, a retired Harambee Stars defender, has a wealth of experience in football management. He has previously coached several clubs in the country, including Zetech University, Sony Sugar, KCB, and Oserian football clubs. He also led the technical bench of Posta Rangers from 2019 to 2021 before being let go by Kenya Police in December 2022 due to poor performances.

Pamzo’s coaching career has seen him achieve success, as he played a pivotal role in Gor Mahia’s Kenya Premier League title win in 1993. He was also influential in Tusker’s triumphs in 1994 and 1996.

Taking charge of Shabana FC is a daunting task for Pamzo, as the team currently occupies one of the relegation spots in the FKFPL standings with only 14 points. The Kisii-based side, which parted ways with Sammy Okoth in late 2023, has only managed three wins in 17 games this season. They have also conceded more goals than any other team in the league, except for Ulinzi Stars.

The appointment of Pamzo as the head coach of Shabana FC was announced on January 10, 2024. The club’s secretary general, Elizaphan Kerama, expressed their pleasure in bringing Pamzo on board and wished him success in his new role.
