Double Delight for Okutoyi in USA Tournament

Kenya’s fast-rising tennis player, Angella Okutoyi, continues her impressive run at the 2023 W35 Naples Tournament in the United States. The tournament, recognized by the International Tennis Federation (ITF), has seen Okutoyi secure her spot in both the doubles semifinals and singles quarterfinals.

In the singles category, Okutoyi faced off against Alexa Noel from the United States in a closely contested match. After a hard-fought battle, Okutoyi emerged victorious with a 7-6, 0-6, 7-5 win, securing her place in the quarterfinals. Her next singles match will take place on Friday night.

In the doubles category, Okutoyi and her partner Carolyn Ansari had an impressive performance against Malkia Menguene and Clervie Ngounoue, also from the United States. They secured a straight-set 6-2, 6-4 win, propelling them to the semifinals. Their next match will be against Chieh-Yu Hsu from Taiwan and Mayuka Aikawa from Japan. Aikawa and Hsu won their quarterfinals match against Italian sisters Tatiana Pieri and Jessica Pieri with a score of 6-2, 7-5. The doubles match is scheduled for 9 PM Kenyan time.

W35 Naples is Okutoyi’s first tournament of 2024. The Auburn University student previously ended her 2023 campaign by winning the W25 Nairobi title. Okutoyi’s success so far in the tournament reflects her dedication and talent in the world of tennis.
