KRU, the Kenya Rugby Union, has announced that they are seeking applications for the position of head coach for the Chipu U20 men’s national rugby team. The current coach, Curtis Olago, is nearing the end of his contract, which expires next month. The union is looking for an experienced rugby tactician to guide the team.
Interested individuals were invited to apply for the position on January 9, 2023. The union is specifically seeking Kenyan residents with at least four years of coaching experience. The coach will report to the head of KRU 15s programme and will be responsible for effectively managing the Kenya under 20 team.
Applicants must be Kenyan residents with a minimum of four years’ coaching experience for a club or school side, and must have an outstanding success record. The deadline to apply for the position is January 17. Details on how to apply can be found on the union’s social media accounts.
The coach will have various responsibilities, including delivering the playing aims for the season, planning and evaluating training sessions, and preparing for upcoming tournaments. Curtis Olago, the current coach, has previously played for clubs such as Impala and Mean Machine, and has led the Chipu technical bench at the World Rugby under 20 trophy and Barthes Cup.
